The ASPSW program is designed for those students who have been working in the role of a Personal Support Worker (PSW) but have not been formally certified. Some may have received training “on-the-job”, or participated in a Resident Attendant (RA) program or perhaps took a PSW or Home Support Worker program that does not meet the provincial PSW certification standards.

Students who qualify for this program must be able to demonstrate they have a minimum of 450 hours working in the role of a PSW and must also be able to demonstrate they have at least 75% of the PSW skills set at the performance level of a new PSW graduate.

Students must also have a CPR certificate, clean criminal record check and satisfactory Social Development check.

Program begins Monday September 13, 2021 and is open until Friday September 9, 2022.

Virtual laboratory sessions are included in the online program.   These are strongly suggested but not mandatory.  In addition, students have the option of scheduling two 12 hours days to come to our lab for more intense instruction.

Theory is all online.  Your instructor will be available to you Tuesday-Friday 8:00-13:00, Monday’s 8:00-14:00.  You have 52 weeks to compete your 8 online Modules.   If you complete your Modules prior to the 52 weeks you may make arrangements to write your Certification Exam prior to September 9, 2022.

The ASPSW program is $3,000 and includes everything except your laptop and internet access.

Classes are virtual and you have live access to your instructor during the weekday mornings.   Instructors can be reached afterwards via email and will respond within 24 hours.

Once you have completed your online Modules you will qualify to write your Certification Exam.  Exam date and time will be determined by you and your instructor.  The Certification Exam is completed online and you will have an instructor with you, virtually, during the exam.

Upon successful completion of the program you will be qualified to work in any setting which employs’ PSW’s and qualify to work in any province except Quebec. This PSW certificate program meets the provincial certification standards of New Brunswick.

Our Lab

In addition to our virtual simulation labs we offer you the option and/or addition of physically attending our lab in Fredericton, New Brunswick. Our lab is complete with the equipment, environment and staff to insure you have the best opportunity to practice all your core skills.
