The Personal Support Worker Diploma program is designed for those students who have never worked in the role of a Personal Support Worker (PSW) but would like to. Students complete all of their theory online and access virtual online labs prior to their in-person labs. Once the student completes their online theory, labs and practicum prerequisites, they will proceed onto their 15 consecutive weeks of practicum. Students will be placed with their preceptor in a long term care facility in their community to obtain a minimum of 450 hours of clinical experience.
While we offer our theory online, you must be residing in the province of New Brunswick to participate in any of our PSW programs.
Upon successful completion of the theory, lab and clinical practicum, students will qualify to write their PSW Certification exam, online with a virtual proctor. The student must obtain a score of 70% or more in order to pass the exam.
Once the new graduate obtains their PSW Diploma, they will be qualified to work in all settings that employ PSW.
