Part 1: Foot Care Theory

The course follows a comprehensive, advanced and diabetic nursing foot care curriculum.   This curriculum is based on current best practice guidelines and evidence-based practice, including the CAFCN’s National Competencies for Advanced Nursing Foot Care in Canada.

Students are expected to complete online testing and view pre-recorded presentations from their computer.

Part 2: Foot Care Practicum

Part 2 is the clinical component of the program.  Students must be successful with Part 1 before moving into the clinical component.  In addition, the student must have at least $2 million in personal protective insurance prior to participating in the practicum.

The practicum is 43 hours.  3 hours are online study/testing followed by five, 8 hour days of hands’ on foot care. The student will have 6 months to complete the practicum.

Tuition assistance is available through the Labour Force Training (LFT) program.  Under the LFT program, nurses may be eligible for 75% of their tuition to be paid in full (not a loan).  Click here for more info.
